Throughout the pandemic the popularity of cleaning videos has soared. YouTube, TikTok have become inundated with cleaning tutorials and videos- and this could be for a multitude of reasons. Not only has cleaning become a popular part of the ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) community, but many also find it aesthetically pleasing and soothing to watch mess being tidied. The rise in popularity surrounding transition cleaning videos and organising videos often time-lapsed and set to music, are done by creators considered to be ‘everyday people.’ From decluttering content to organisation and deep clean videos- these videos are a valuable way to gain some cleaning hacks, and here we’ve compiled we buy any home’s top 5 most efficient cleaning hacks.

Hack One: Rejuvenating an Old Mattress:

Mattresses are often one of the most neglected objects in the house in terms of cleaning. This hack, popularised by Instagram’s very own Mrs Hinch, is perfect for rejuvenating an old mattress. Simply spray the mattress with white wine vinegar and then sprinkle with baking soda. Wait for 15 minutes and then hoover off- your mattress will be brand new!

Hack Two: Soaking your Oven Tray:

Sometimes it can feel as though you’ve been scrubbing oven trays for years- but they’re getting no cleaner. To get gleaming oven trays, wrap the trays in foil and pop them in a bathtub filled with hot water and two dishwasher tablets. Leave to soak for two hours.

Hack Three: Toilet Bowl Stains:

If your toilet bowl is looking a little worse for wear, grab some cleaning spray, a toilet brush and a pumice stone… (rubber gloves are probably a good idea too). Firstly, spray the bowl and let it soak for 15 minutes, then scrub with the toilet brush and flush. Next, scrub the stains with the pumice in circular motion and watch the stains disappear.

Hack Four: Shower Cleaning:

Cleaning the shower doesn’t have to be a huge task. Maintain shower cleanliness by keeping a scrub brush that holds liquid soap. Keep it in your shower and whilst your conditioner sets in, give the floor and tiles a quick wipe!

Hack Five: Repurposing Candles:

Don’t let candle jars go to waste. Once the candle is burnt out, add hot water to the candle holder to clean out remaining wax and use the candle container as an organiser in the kitchen or bathroom.
